Urchin
Urchin does indeed look like a dark purple sea urchin (you know what I mean if you’ve had the misfortune of stepping on one!). The small 4”-6” spiky red/purple blooms are semi-cactus form and grow on 3’-4’ plants (slightly shorter in my garden this year).
Urchin is an older dahlia - introduced in 1955 by Bob Bloomfield of Portland, Oregon.
